Hello,
I'm Dad Pharmacist.
When you start feeling the first signs of a cold,
one of the most common questions we get at the pharmacy is:
"I have trouble swallowing tablets —
is there a cold medicine that's easier to take?"
One of the products many people look for in that case is a powder-form product.
Cold medicines typically come in tablet or liquid form,
but what makes this product distinctive is that it comes in powder form.
Today I'd like to introduce
판피린타임 산제, the powder-type cold medicine!
📍 판피린타임 산제
판피린타임 산제 is an over-the-counter comprehensive cold medicine.
It is intended to relieve the various symptoms that can accompany a cold,
and contains a combination of multiple active ingredients.
The approved indications in South Korea include the following cold symptoms:
✔ Runny nose, nasal congestion
✔ Sneezing, cough
✔ Phlegm, sore throat
✔ Fever, headache, muscle aches, chills, etc.
It is a comprehensive cold medicine used to relieve the various symptoms that accompany a cold.
Because the symptoms of a cold differ from person to person,
combination cold medicines containing multiple ingredients like this are sometimes used.
Powder-type comprehensive cold medicine
The biggest distinguishing feature of 판피린타임 산제 is
that it comes in a stick-pack powder formulation.
The product is a powder packaged individually in 1 sachet per pack,
and is designed to dissolve quickly in the mouth.
Although this powder formulation is not yet widely familiar in South Korea,
The powder-form product I have been consistently recommending (?) for a long time
has many advantages!
👉 When you have difficulty swallowing tablets
👉 When you are out and about and have no water available
👉 When you are looking for a cold medicine that is easy to take
It also has the following features,
making it a popular choice for those who want a product free of additives or who wish to avoid sugar.
✔ No added sugar
✔ No added coloring
✔ No added caffeine
✔ No added preservatives
🔎 Key Ingredients
This product contains 5 key ingredients combined together.
✅ Acetaminophen
For cold-related fever, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, and other
symptoms — an antipyretic and analgesic ingredient used for symptom relief.
✅ DL-Methylephedrine Hydrochloride
It has a bronchodilating action,
and is used as an ingredient for relieving cough and bronchial symptoms.
✅ Dipepidin Citrate
An antitussive ingredient used for relief of cough symptoms.
✅ Chlorpheniramine Maleate
For runny nose, sneezing, and other
allergic symptoms — an antihistamine ingredient.
※ This ingredient may cause drowsiness.
✅ Riboflavin
As a Vitamin B2 ingredient involved in the body's energy metabolism,
it helps supplement the B-group vitamins needed during the body's energy metabolism process.
📃 Dosage Instructions
The dosage may vary depending on age.
📌 For adults
-
Ages 15 and older
-
1 time(s) per dose, 1 packet per dose, 3 times per day
※ Usually taken 30 minutes after meals,
with a dosing interval of approximately 4 hours recommended.
📌 Dosage by age
-
Ages 11–15: 2/3 packet
-
Ages 7–11: 1/2 packet
-
Ages 3–7: 1/3 packet
-
Ages 2–3: 1/4 packet
As shown above, there is a South Korean approved dosage for children from age 2,
so it may be worth considering as a cold medicine to keep at home for when it's needed.
💥 Dad Pharmacist's personal review
I bought it with my own money and tried it once.
Since it's a powder-type cold medicine that dissolves instantly without water,
I just tipped it straight into my mouth,
and it dissolved gently with just saliva — no water needed — releasing a pleasant, refreshing lemon scent throughout my mouth.
The acetaminophen ingredient has a very bitter taste, so it has been taste-masked,
though a slight bitterness does remain.
I suspect the lemon scent was chosen partly to help mask that bitterness as well.
Anyway, powder-form products have generally been a tough sell in South Korea,
but this dosage form has a lot going for it — it's portable and convenient.
Since COVID, syrup-type products have been gaining popularity,
but personally, in terms of ease of taking, I found this more comfortable than syrup form.
If you have a cold and need to take a multi-symptom cold medicine,
it might be worth giving this type of dosage form a try.
⭐ Precautions when taking
1️⃣ Do not take together with other cold medicines
Multi-symptom cold medicines
often already contain multiple active ingredients.
If you take several cold medicines at the same time,
the ingredients can overlap and result in an overdose.
2️⃣ In particular, watch out for duplicate acetaminophen
판피린타임 산제 contains
acetaminophen.
Many other fever-reducing/pain-relieving medicines and cold medicines
also contain this ingredient,
so caution is needed to avoid taking duplicate doses.
3️⃣ Possibility of drowsiness
Because it contains an antihistamine ingredient,
drowsiness may occur.
It is advisable to be careful when driving, operating machinery, and similar activities.
4️⃣ Do not take with alcohol
It is recommended to avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.
Even if you normally drink a significant amount of alcohol,
consultation is needed before taking it.
판피린타임 산제 has the following features:
✔ A comprehensive cold medicine in powder form
✔ A formulation that can be taken without water
✔ A multi-ingredient product intended to relieve multiple cold symptoms
These are its key characteristics.
Because cold symptoms present differently from person to person,
it is important to consider your current symptoms together with any medicines you regularly take.
If you have any questions,
it is helpful to consult at a pharmacy before making your choice!
판피린타임 산제 introduced today is an over-the-counter medicine in South Korea and cannot be sold or purchased online.
It can only be purchased in person at a pharmacy.
Please inquire at the pharmacy where you make your purchase for the exact price.
This concludes the post.
